UPDATED VERSION!Hey guys!
Please watch
THIS (new and improved)video!
It's about the stereotypes that white people have of Hispanics/Latinos.
After watching it, please respond to it in the comments! We won't take offense if you don't like it! And if we've forgotten any, or you've had an experience with stereotypes of Hispanics or anything, feel free to write about that, too!
Thanks:)
I have heard many of the things that were said in this video around Paideia, but I never really put much thought into it until now. This video was definitely a wake-up call for me. I always assumed that Paideia was above racism and stereotypes. I like to think that the students at Paideia have racial awareness. After seeing this video I realized that even at a place like Paideia, there are still stereotypes.
ReplyDeleteI agree with Alexa. People, including myself, want to assume that racism is not something that happens at your school, but because of this video, I am more aware the stereotypes that people will assign others. I know that I would be mad if people kept walking up to me, asking some of the questions in the video.
ReplyDeleteThank you for showing your video to us, it taught us all how we don't think sometimes. I have noticed racism at our school, I usually try to ignore it ,but stereotypes of different races are taken from older kids and then shown to younger kids. The older kids have absoloutley no idea what they are doing. They say stupid things like mexicans are going to come and kill me or something, and what they don't realize is that every single race are the same, sure there are different traditions and races and other things, but i doubt that any one of the racist kids could give one reason of how we are different on the inside. That is really all that matters. Thank you for your video , it really showed how we are not self consious sometimes and we don't think about others.

They also have no idea how important the lifestyle is. That is really all that matters. ReplyDeleteI really enjoyed your video. I take RCG as well, but I didn't know much about stereotypes Hispanic people have to face. Some of the stereotypes you showed in the video seemed so ignorant! I knew other people of color, such as black people, face issues surrounding stereotypes, but I really didn't know what absurd comments Hispanic people face. One question I had was how you guys knew about these stereotypes and comments. Were these things you've faced before, or did you research Hispanic/Latina stereotypes? I really enjoyed your video and found it to be engaging and informative at the same time. Great job!
ReplyDeleteThank you for showing us your video. I really didn't realize how much this happened, but now that I take a closer look at it, I understand. I have definitely heard this happen, and am going to be honest. I have done one of the things mentioned in the video. So all in all, great video and I hope more people see it and understand.
ReplyDeleteI really appreciated you guys showing us that video. I never have really noticed these problems in my life. I mean I have seen some people say those Kind of things and I guess I have never really token that in offense because I am not Latino but also because I think that I was sort of ignorant about people saying those Kind of things because no one has ever targeted me about my race. I have always known about racism problems but I have always associated them with physical actions I Know that words have and impact on people but I never really realized that it hurts to be targeted on one of the things about you that make you you.
ReplyDeleteThank you for your comments, soon we will make a response. The more comments the better, so PLEASE tell people you know to visit the sight and watch the video.
ReplyDeleteExcellent job. Hopefully lots of people will see the video, and maybe will think before they speak!
